Teeter Hang Ups EP-550 Inversion Therapy Table Review

Teeter Hang Ups EP-550 Inversion Therapy TableI was somewhat skeptical when I ordered this board whether it would help my back or not.I am periodically bothered by back problems that are either sciatica or something closely resembling it.When it hits it has always taken at least six weeks of physical inactivity and stretching to relieve the pain, and the ache would linger for months. When I felt the latest bout of this condition begin, I ordered this board.I can truthfully say that after using the board for one week, five minutes a day, the pain and any sign of the condition had disappeared.I live alone so I do not fully invert, but the last setting using the safety harness was enough to provide me relief.I only use it two or three times a week now, but have not had a recurrence of the back problem in the four months since buying the board. The one time relief was enough to justify buying the board, and any future aid in relieving or preventing the sciatica will be gravy for me.I am beginning to believe that periodic use may hopefully prevent the condition from coming back.I bought the Teeter board because I am 64 years old and weigh 250 lbs.I feel very secure on this board and if I had someone around when I was using it I would have no hesitation in going fully inverted. The sensation when you first use the board takes some getting used to, but once you develop trust in the board that feeling goes away.

Product Description:
Whether you want to enjoy better posture, reduce back pain, or simply minimize your daily stress load, the Teeter Hang Ups EP-550 inversion therapy table makes a terrific choice. Inversion therapy works by placing your body in line with the downward force of gravity. In the process, inversion elongates the spine, increases the space between the vertebrae, and relieves the pressure on discs, ligaments, and nerve roots. And less pressure means less back pain, as well as fewer headaches and neck problems. Inversion is an ideal therapy for people with persistent spine and muscle problems, in addition to athletes who frequently push their body out of whack through repetitive muscle motions, such as runners, weightlifters, skiers, bikers, and golfers. Studies suggest that inverting yourself a mere 25 degrees for even a few minutes per day can have tremendously positive effects.
The EP-550 is outfitted with such features as Flex Technology, which allows the backrest to bend accommodate your stretches for greater mobility and range of motion; an adjustable foot platform with two settings, allowing you to find the optimum position for ankle comfort and security; and an EZ Angle tether strap, which offers preset angles at 20, 40, and 60 degrees, along with custom angles depending on your preferred position. Other details include an adjustable head pillow for maximum comfort, an instructional DVD, and a 300-pound user capacity. The EP-550, which accommodates people as tall as 6 feet 6 inches, carries a five-year warranty.

Stamina 55-1539 Therapy Inversion System Review

Stamina 55-1539 Therapy Inversion SystemThis thing is wonderful from the moment you mount it and ease back to level and then to a slight downward incline. It balances your weight so you feel a sense of weightlessness.I felt the pressure on my groin ease up as I tilted back a little.I heard my back gently snap once.Something eased back into place or had some pressure relieved from it.It's very relaxing and soothing to just gently rock back and forth a little bit without even trying to go for full inversion. All the people on Amazon who said they wish they had gotten one of these years ago instead of making so many trips to the chiropractor were speaking utter truth!

Product Description:
The multiple-benefit Stamina 55-1539 therapy inversion system uses the samemethod that many hospitals and doctors use to reduce pressure on spinal discs, ligaments, and nerve roots while also increasing blood circulation, strengthening theback, and elongating the spine. Inversion therapy is natural and noninvasive, and helpscounteract the daily stress that contributes to a stiff back and neck.
The system is outfitted with a patented Pellicle mesh bed that conforms to the bodywhile facilitating air circulation, along with a pair of invert/return assist handlebars, which make it a breeze to invert to any angle and return to the starting position. The leg- lock system, meanwhile, holds the ankles securely without restricting them. Other detailsinclude an extended, easy-to-reach handle on the leg mechanism; curved, foam-paddedankle collars for added comfort and support; a chrome height-adjustment beam; anadjustable three-position footbar; and an attractive pewter-colored frame. The therapyinversion system, which folds into a compact footprint for storage, is backed by a five- year warranty on the frame and a 90-day warranty on all other parts.
About Inversion Tables
Back pain is an uncomfortable and cumbersome ailment for millions of people. It can strike repeatedly and without warning, nearly paralyzing its victims with pain and discomfort. Inversion therapy is an excellent way to prevent and treat chronic or recurring back pain. This form of therapy treats back pain by hanging a person upside-down by their ankles. The only problem with this therapy is a risk of spinal injury because of the procedure's lack of support. Fortunately, inversion tables remove this risk. A person can lie on an inversion table, and then gradually turn themselves upside down, always fully supported by their ankles. With precise balance, simple arm movements control the rotation of the inversion table. Special tether straps or locking hinges allows users to stop a rotation at just the right angle in order to stretch a specific place in their back.
This technique has proven effective for relieving spine compression, elongating the spine, and reversing minor spinal dislocations. Of course, this treatment is not for everyone. People with glaucoma, very high blood pressure, bone disorders or a history of severe spinal injury or surgery should be careful and check with a physician before administering inversion therapy. However, with a bit of practice and an breath of caution, inversion tables can be your ticket to a pain-free and healthier back.

Stamina Gravity Inversion Table Review

Stamina Gravity Inversion TableI owned one of the original inversion tables some years ago (forget the brand name) and used it for about two years, so I have some experience with these devices. The original had the gravity boots. They were more comfortable to use than the built in cuffs on this one. Problem is that the boots took too long to put on and were a barrier to frequent use. The cuffs are secure and reasonably comfortable. I would avoid the machines that only have the padded bars to hold your ankles. I haven't used one, but they seem obviously less secure and less comfortable that the cuffs.

Security is everything on these machines. You don't want the machine to dump you on your head, it could be fatal as it says right on the machine. This one seems very sturdy and the critical points well engineered. It is a good serviceable machine. Having said that I will point our a few flaws--none of them serious.

There is a bar across the table with a pad on it. It is not so comfortable when in the horizontal position. I took the pad out and replaced it with a small cushion. Problem fixed. I spend most of my time full inverted doing crunches etc. anyway. This table does not lock in the fully inverted position as securely as the original inversion table I had. It does seem secure enough, however. At some point, I may just put a board under the front feet of the machine. This would alter the geometry enough to make it lock more securely (locking is not mechanical but by gravity). The scale for adjusting the machine to your height is not accurate for me and I am pretty average. I have to set it four inches taller than I actually am. This could result in you getting stuck in the fully inverted position with the listed setting. That's something you don't want to happen. Take this into consideration when you first use the machine. Once you get the right setting, it is not a problem. I did get stuck once with my old machine. My daughter had changed the setting. Best to check it before every use.

When I got my machine there was mildew or mold on the nylon table cover. It wiped off easily. I emailed Stamina with a photo and they sent out a new cover promptly. I have had a total of five Stamina machines. Three required some replacement parts, and the customer service has always been excellent. Every product has been well made, designed and an excellent value for the money. I am pretty picky and know machines, so I don't settle for mediocre workmanship.

I've made it sound like these machines can be dangerous, and they can if you get dropped on you head. With a little care and presence of mind, the risk is minimal, however, and far out weighed by the benefits. I don't known of anything else that is as effective for chronic back problems that are related to spinal compression. It is important, however, to get a well made machine like this one.
