Amazon had a great price on this item.I paid $299 for it.I have found it $20 cheaper just the other day on sale from another retailer, but I am not complaining... I was satisfied with the price I paid.
The ND-5 is amazing.For a survival light, it can't be beat.You can signal with it a long ways off.I took it coyote hunting once since I had it.Didn't see any yotes, but did pick up some deer.It was incredible how bright their eyes lit up!I wasn't very good at it, but my buddy could pick up frogs eyes with it.The frogs didn't like it and would close their eyes after a short time.When scanning with a wide beam, if something passes between you and the dim green of the wide beam, it would light up bright.The closer it is the brighter it would be.If you scan thick woods, the beam has to be very wide.If it is tight, there is too many distracting reflections all around.Sometimes in the thick woods, it is almost too bright and you are better off without a light, or with a cheap, dim, red light like my buddy had.So in summation, if you have open territory like fields or desert, this is a very, very useful tool.Unfortunately, although the beam can be narrowed or widened very easily, the brightness could not be dimmed adequately enough in dense cover. One other thing.We had some light fog come in and the laser picked it all up.Like high beams when you are driving a car, you can't see very far.In heavy fog, it would be impossible to see very far at all.Our light fog wasn't too bad however.
I recommend it!It is a very useful tool in the right situations.
